Public Housing
The public housing program provides safe, decent, and affordable rental housing to over 2.2 million low- and very low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. There are approximately 1.1 million public housing units owned and managed by more than 3,000 housing authorities.
Housing Choice Voucher
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is the nation’s largest low-income rental assistance program. Nationwide, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers serve approximately 2.2 million households. In 2016, nearly 1.3 million of these households were served by CLPHA member public housing authorities.
Moving to Work
The Moving To Work (MTW) program, authorized by section 204 of the Omnibus Consolidated Rescissions and Appropriations Act of 1996, offers a limited number of housing authorities the opportunity to design and test innovative strategies for addressing the needs of their tenants and communities.
