Description
The Youth Outreach Associate is responsible for building strong, meaningful relationships with youth and increasing participation in youth development programs across the Community Economic and Development (CED) department. This role focuses on direct engagement, mentorship, outreach, and program support to ensure youth are actively connected to academic support, leadership development opportunities, and enrichment programs. The Youth Outreach Associate plays a critical role in ensuring youth feel supported, empowered, and consistently engaged in programs that strengthen their academic success, leadership skills, and long-term growth.
Essential Functions
Youth Engagement & Relationship Building
• Develop consistent relationships with youth across programs and sites.
• Actively engage youth who are not currently participating in programs and support re-engagement efforts.
• Serve as a trusted mentor and point of contact for youth.
• Promote youth voice by encouraging participation in leadership activities and youth-focused initiatives. Program Implementation Support
• Support the implementation of after-school programs, youth leadership initiatives, mentoring programs, and enrichment activities.
• Assist with recruitment and outreach to increase youth participation.
• Support youth during program sessions to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
• Help coordinate youth events, workshops, and engagement activities. Outreach & Community Engagement
• Conduct outreach to youth and families to increase program awareness.
• Support family engagement efforts to strengthen youth participation.
• Assist with school and community partnerships that help expand access to youth programs.
• Represent the department at youth-focused events and community activities.
Data & Participation Tracking
• Track youth participation and engagement levels.
• Assist in monitoring attendance and program outcomes.
• Support the collection of feedback from youth to help improve programming.
• Work closely with the CED Supervisor (Youth Services) to identify engagement gaps and improve participation.

Education
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Youth Development, Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Experience
• 2–4 years of experience working directly with youth in a school, nonprofit, or community-based setting.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting youth programs preferred.
• Experience working with diverse youth populations strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies

Working Conditions & Additional Requirements
• Position requires flexibility in work hours to meet program and operational needs
• Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
• Local travel may be required occasionally.
