The City of Oakland, population 443,554, is a vibrant, diverse city located on the east side of San Francisco Bay. Founded in 1938, the Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) is a public agency that ensures quality, affordable housing for low-income families in Oakland. OHA currently provides subsidized housing to nearly 16,500 families across the City, making it the largest landlord in Oakland.

 

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Housing Operations Officer manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations, services, and housing programs of the Oakland Housing Authority. The Chief Housing Operations Officer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and monitoring residential housing and property management policies and procedures to be followed by staff assigned to housing operations, capital improvements, and asset management functions. The Oakland Housing Authority is seeking a collaborative, forward-thinking professional to serve as the Chief Housing Operations Officer. Candidates must have experience in affordable housing, systems planning, community development, public sector regulations, and private sector property management practices. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of federal, state, and local housing regulations including knowledge of HUD rules and regulations and have significant experience in the management of public housing and capital fund programs. Knowledge of Section 42 low-income housing tax credit and other HUD programs such as Section 8 programs, USDA Rural Development and resident community services programs, and real estate development are required. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing equitable housing solutions for diverse communities.
