From the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority's press release:
AmeriCorps has selected the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) as a new AmeriCorps VISTA (or Volunteers in Service to America) program partner to help combat poverty across Franklin County and offer job-training and community service opportunities to as many as 45 eligible applicants beginning this July and continuing annually for the foreseeable future.
AmeriCorps VISTA has allocated a $881,500 grant to CMHA and is teaming with CMHA’s Resident Initiatives department to recruit VISTA members this year who will build and expand programs in their community that help reduce socio-economic barriers to prosperity.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the CMHA grant as well as a $176,310 AmeriCorps VISTA grant to the Family Service Council of Ohio in Columbus that will fund nine AmeriCorps volunteers who will increase access to housing options for people in recovery from substance use disorders and provide training and technical assistance support for those residents.
