HUD Awards $20 Million for Eviction Prevention & Diversion Program

Date Published:
December 6th, 2021

Last month, HUD announced $20 million in inaugural grants from its Eviction Protection Grant Program, the first of its kind for the Department. These grants will be awarded to legal service providers to assist in providing legal assistance to low-income tenants at risk of or subject to eviction. The Eviction Grant Programs can help public housing authorities better serve their residents by referring them to a better funded legal aid service.

The current grantees located in CLPHA members' service areas include Albany, Atlanta, and Toledo. CLPHA will encourage HUD to expand the program so that our members are able turn to well-funded legal aid services in their local jurisdiction.
