More than 200 apartments, including 56 three- or four-bedroom family-size residences, will be part of the first phase of a planned mixed-use, mixed-income development called Northwest One in the District’s NoMa neighborhood.
Construction began last month on the development on North Capitol Street at K Street in Northwest Washington. The project is aimed at transforming the former Temple Courts building into new apartments with space on the ground floor for shops and community services, potentially including space for a daycare and after school programs.
The site was acquired by the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) in 2008. Funding for the redevelopment was provided by DMPED, the D.C. Housing Finance Agency, the Department of Housing and Community Development and the District of Columbia Housing Authority.
