The National Housing Conference (NHC) has released its latest report, “Promising Health and Housing Collaborations," which discuss learnings from three innovative health care and housing partnerships. With funding from a Kresge Foundation grant, NHC brought together practitioners from both nonprofit and for-profit affordable housing organizations, as well as representatives from health care organizations, for a series of working group convenings to discuss practical and applicable ways that the housing and health care sectors can build more affordable housing while lowering unreimbursed health care costs in high-cost populations. The report spotlights how Portland, Oregon’s Housing is Health Initiative, the Tennessee Creating Homes Initiative, and the Massachusetts Housing and Health Pilot Program are reducing health care costs and increasing affordable housing investment while improving health outcomes for low-income individuals and families.
