The rectangular room is immaculate, with something to explore at every turn.

Between the gray walls are areas to read, color, play, write and listen. Rugs for napping and bean bags for lounging rest on the hardwood floors.

On Aug. 26, 64 children will christen the San Bernardino County Preschool Services Department’s newest Head Start location, in the burgeoning Arrowhead Grove community in San Bernardino.

The transformation of two original public housing units off North Crestview Avenue into spaces for the city’s youngest residents to learn and play was made possible through a partnership with the San Bernardino County Housing Authority, an example of the power of collaboration in areas that truly need assistance.
