Last week, CLPHA’s Education Working Group hosted a webinar for 50 attendees featuring representatives from the King County Housing Authority (KCHA) and the national non-profit Attendance Works. Cara Ianni and Ted Dezember discussed their efforts to help educate KCHA residents on the importance of attendance, promote attendance awareness month, and lay the groundwork for school-based attendance teams. Sue Fothergill shared Attendance Works’ approach to tackling chronic absence by engaging parents and stakeholders, helping families set attendance goals, and addressing determinants of poor attendance such as health and wellness.
