Miami-Dade County is one of the largest governments in the southeast with nearly 30,000 employees serving 3 million residents with an annual budget of $10 billion. The Mayor of Miami-Dade County is elected countywide to serve a four-year term and is considered a "strong mayor,” and is responsible for appointing the County’s Department Directors. The Miami-Dade Public Housing and Community Development Department (PHCD) is the sixth largest housing agency in the nation. The PHCD manages more than 8,000 public housing apartments and provides financial help through the federal Section 8 program to more than 18,000 families. A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six years of administrative experience in planning, development, affordable housing, compliance, Section 8 housing choice voucher or community development programs is required. Experience at a public housing authority of at least 8,000 Annual Contributions Contract (ACC/Public Housing) units and extensive working knowledge of public housing rules, regulations and policies is preferred. A Master’s or Law degree in a relevant discipline is a plus. The starting salary is open, dependent upon qualifications. The County offers an attractive benefits package.
