The award-winning City of Charlotte is recruiting nationally for a Housing and Neighborhood Services Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic candidate to work directly with the unprecedented growth and development that has produced economic success and new opportunities as well as unique challenges. Successful candidates will bring a proven and verifiable track record that demonstrates their ability to work with key stakeholders across the City to ensure strategy and operations of Housing and Neighborhood Services are aligned with other priority areas: including Corridors of Opportunity, the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, the Transformational Mobility Network, and Hire Charlotte. The Director is responsible for oversight of the Department’s strategy and activities and an annual operating budget of approximately $20.5 million, as well as federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS/HIV (HOPWA), bi-annual affordable housing bonds approved by voters and various community grants.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of progressively responsible municipal administration, including significant administrative and personnel management responsibilities is preferred.
