JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting for a talented and passionate Resident Services Coordinator that will serve Public Housing residents in the Southwest Region of King County, specifically in the White Center and surrounding areas.  The goal of this position is to assist residents in the Southwest area in maintaining housing stability and increasing resident engagement.
 
Under the general supervision of the Resident Services Manager, the Resident Services Coordinator will work with residents to maintain housing stability by providing services to support compliance with lease and program requirements and acting as a liaison between residents and KCHA property management staff. The successful candidate will provide resource and referral services to Public Housing residents and will coordinate community events and activities to promote resident stability and engagement.  
 
This position will be based in White Center at Seola Gardens and Greenbridge Housing sites working closely with our residents, property management and community resources.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Resident Services Coordinator will:

  • Work with KCHA staff and Public Housing participants to support resident housing stability and address housing issues. 
  • Identify resident service needs and provide information about and referrals to social services; provide information and connect participants to programs and services that will help participants achieve their goals; help residents apply for and maintain social services and entitlements. 
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners to ensure residents have access to information, services and assistance for which they qualify; act as a liaison between local community governmental agencies, community councils, individuals and residents. 
  • Coordinate community activities at sites. 
  • Meet with residents to discuss their situation and help problem solve; assist residents in identifying and resolving challenges and issues. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the program initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission. 
  • May coordinate the self-sufficiency programs, develops and coordinates contracts for the program. 
  • Create and sustain partnerships and service resources to assist and support residents in their efforts to become self-sufficient. 
  • Use data tracking software/systems to input participant data on a regular basis; verify accuracy of data on a regular basis. 
  • Gather data and prepare reports as needed. 
  • Complete all required paperwork and maintain participant files through per department documentation standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with preferred degrees in social work, human services, public administration or related field AND 
  • Two years of experience in social work, housing programs and/or community development programming OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices used to organize, implement, and monitor resident service programs and support for implementation of individual/family supportive services and programs. 
  • Interacts effectively with others to establish and maintain positive working relationships; demonstrates techniques for building community partnerships. 
  • Applies effective written and verbal communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages to internal and external stakeholders; listens to people's ideas and concerns. 
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively; remains professional, calm and tactful in stressful situations while adhering to a high standard of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality; knowledge of basic de-escalation and mediation skills. 
  • Values organizational diversity; treats other with respect; promotes cooperation; works effectively and positively with individuals of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and educationally diverse populations. 
  • Uses systems to organize, prioritize, and keep track of information and/or work in progress; maintains accurate and complete electronic and manual records; exhibits attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment. 
  • Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions, and implements recommendations; demonstrates critical, creative, and reflective thinking.  
  • Demonstrates responsible personal and professional conduct, which contributes to the overall mission and goals of KCHA; accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. 
  • Works effectively and efficiently to provide quality service to satisfy service expectations; seeks ways to improve service delivery; demonstrates strong project management skills. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and database software. 

 

Special Requirements:

  • Consent to and pass required assessments. 
  • Consent to and pass a driver's and criminal records background check. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment.  This position regularly travels between work sites and will need to have access to a vehicle or an alternative mode of transportation.

Salary & Benefits:

Physical Work Environment:
Incumbent(s) must be able to meet the physical requirements of the classification and have mobility, balance, coordination, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the functions performed. Work is performed in an office environment and at KCHA sites.  This position will be required to travel to work sites and housing sites as needed.  Site visits require driving a vehicle and may be conducted in a variety of weather conditions.
