The City of Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to become the next Deputy Housing Director – Financial and Management Services. This is an exciting and rewarding new opportunity to work on key Citywide projects for the Housing Department. The ideal candidate will possess solid analytical skills, a strong understanding of grants and grant accounting, balance sheets, compliance considerations, fiscal controls, and financial management. Additionally, successful candidates will be well-versed and experienced in successfully building and maintaining positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the City, and will be thoughtful, inclusive, and resourceful in their ability to solve problems.
The City of Phoenix Housing Department programs provide public housing, Section 8 housing vouchers, affordable rental apartments, and single-family homes to more than 35,000 area residents. This includes partnering with non-profit and for-profit community organizations on the preservation and development of affordable housing units. These partnerships have led to sustainable and affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities. The City’s housing services provide assistance to more than 35,000 residents, as well as numerous non-profit organizations and private businesses in the Phoenix community. The Housing Department has 135 full-time staff, 51 contract staff and an operating budget of $118 million.
The Housing Development team department manages the City’s Housing Phoenix Plan and implements programs for the creation and preservation of sustainable affordable housing and housing-related services. The department works to accomplish its goals by partnering with the community, nonprofit agencies, private sector companies and other organization; planning targeted area housing construction, rehabilitation and neighborhood area development; coordinating proposals with city, state and federal funding agencies to incorporate multiple financial structures for funding; delivering project management services from initial planning through final construction; ensuring projects are in compliance with city, state, federal and investor requirements.
