The Corpus Christi Housing Authority (CCHA) is conducting a national search for the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This is an extraordinary career opportunity to join one of the most creative and innovative housing authorities in the United States. Now in its 82nd year of service, CCHA provides rental subsidies and develops affordable housing for low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities living in the City of Corpus Christi. Ideal candidates will be highly skilled financial professionals, with a CPA, and proven track record of managing the administration and formulation of financial policies and procedures within a complex housing authority. CCHA has a total 2020 total budget of just over $47 million and 120 capable full-time employees. The Finance Department has a combined staff of approximately seven full-time employees, including the CFO. The Department provides financial oversight for all CCHA departments. As Deputy CFO, this position manages the Authority’s accounting and financial reporting function, along with top tier audit firm relationships on financial and compliance audits, to ensure proper policies, internal controls, and reporting results are in place. The Deputy CFO is also responsible for developing operating and capital expenditure budgets and forecasts to ensure CCHA’s needs are appropriately planned for and the associated reporting is shared with the Board, President/CEO, leadership team, and key stakeholders.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related fields and CPA credentials. An advanced degree may be a plus. This position also requires a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in public housing, or a related field, inclusive of management and oversight of staff. Candidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge of housing, housing regulations, and public finance skills relative to overseeing an agency budget and related programs. Recent or current experience in housing and/or community development is strongly desired.
The salary for the Deputy Chief Finance Officer is dependent upon qualifications (DOQ) and will be based upon the selected candidate’s experience and salary history. CCHA will provide a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
