The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for assisting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with the administration and operations of the housing authority and all associated entities. This involves planning, directing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating all daily operations integral to the activities of the housing authority’s Property Management, Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP – PBV and TBV), Real Estate Development (including program performance, assessment, evaluations and operational improvements) along with any special programs or activities required to meet the mission of the Greensboro Housing Authority (GHA). The employee is also responsible for monitoring the daily operations of the authority’s business units, making recommendations to the CEO and reviewing/evaluating agency policies and procedures. The employee assists with budget preparation, makes recommendations regarding personnel, and may act in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer. The employee attends Board of Commissioners meeting and makes presentations when appropriate and necessary. The employee is required to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contacts with residents, employees, and external partners and agencies. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and is reviewed through periodic meetings, written reports, and the evaluation of accomplished results. This is an exempt position under FLSA.
A college degree in an appropriate major with a minimum of 6 to 9 years of senior level management experience in a technical area of a housing authority or equivalent senior leadership experiences. Master’s degree preferred. Licensed Real Estate Broker a plus. Strong analytical and Microsoft Office proficiency are requisite skills; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must have a valid NC Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. A safe driving record is also required.
