The Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority is seeking to hire Building Maintenance Mechanics to perform the installation and repair of downspouts, gutters and minor roofing, aluminum siding, windows, window screens and storm doors; cabinets, shelving, doorframes, door locks, rock lath, drywall and plaster of walls and ceiling repair, hang doors, floor tile, etc. Troubleshoots and repair furnaces, heaters, pilot lights, heat pumps, replace and/or clean filters. Minor heating, ventilation and air conditioning repairs. Perform electrical maintenance in the repair of faulty electrical sockets, switches or outlets; fix or replace light fixtures, receptacles and exhaust fans. Repair gas and electric stoves; service refrigerators, refrigerator door gaskets, thermostats, compressors, motors and other appliances; unstop sewer lines, replace plumbing fixtures, repair and replace commodes, drain pipes, water lines, hot water heaters, install floor tiles; repair or replace bathroom faucets, towel racks, etc. Must provide own personal hand tools and be available to work during emergencies and other unscheduled working hours. Valid Driver’s License. Six years’ experience. Certificate of training in repair of HVAC systems and Universal EPA Certification in HVAC not required but highly desirable.
