The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) of Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a qualified and experienced Chief General Counsel and we invite you to become a part of our nationally recognized affordable housing team. The Chief General Counsel serves as a visionary member of Executive Leadership providing strategic counsel on legal, business, and operational matters to advance the Authority’s mission and strategy. The selected candidate will be passionate about the Authority’s mission and strive to advance the mission, vision, and values to internal and external stakeholders. The position is responsible for regularly exercising independent judgment, discretion and initiative within a general policy framework established by the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Commissioners.
Education: Juris Doctorate Degree required. Must be admitted to the Ohio Bar and Federal Bar for the Northern District of Ohio; admission before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals is desirable.
Experience: Fifteen (15) years' of relevant legal experience related to Public Housing law, Workers’ Compensation, Contracts, Labor and Employment and/or Civil Litigation. Five (5) to seven (7) years’ of progressive management experience in a broad range of legal areas and the ability to lead a diverse team, on an individual and organizational level required.
