The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director of Finance by managing the accounting and financial activities of the Authority, including the maintenance of all books and records in accordance with GAAP, GASB, and HUD regulations. The incumbent supervises department staff; helps manage the fiscal process; reviews and approves general ledger activities, including closings and the preparation of related reports; and ensures compliance with applicable regulations.
All activities must support the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (“HABC” or “Authority”) and related entities’ mission, strategic goals, and objectives.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field(s) and a minimum of 6 years of finance experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience. Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Authority’s plan.
To perform this job successfully, the employee should have strong computer skills (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Must have the ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.

To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. Daily movements include sitting; standing; operating computers and other office equipment; moving about the office; and attending onsite and offsite meetings.
