New Proposed Rule on Portability

HUD has issued notice of a proposed rule to streamline the Housing Choice Voucher portability process. The proposed rule grows out of a March 2010 convening of stakeholders, in which CLPHA and several of its members participated. It aims to more clearly delineate the roles of initial and receiving housing authorities (HAs), improve accountability in portability billing arrangements, and increase family choice and reduce burden in locating suitable housing. Comments are due by May 29, 2012.

RAD Notice Comment Deadline Extended to April 23

HUD announced via a Federal Register Notice today that the deadline to submit comments on the Rental Assistance Demonstration Notice has been extended to Monday, April 23.

Senate Holds Choice Neighborhoods Hearing

On March 27, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development held a hearing on S. 624, The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative Act of 2011.  The bill is sponsored by Subcommittee Chairman Robert Menendez (D-NJ), who introduced the bill on March 17, 2011.
