Legislative Coordinator Internship

COMPENSATION: Unpaid

 

EXPECTED PROJECT TIMEFRAME:

FROM: June 2018

TO: August 2018

 

DAILY TASKS/DUTIES:

Reporting directly to the Legislative Coordinators, responsibilities of the Legislative Coordinator Internship include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.      Confirm resolution of tenant inquiries with the appropriate

2.      Draft correspondence letters to various elected official’s offices

3.      Compile briefs, PowerPoint presentations, and reports on behalf of the Director

4.      Organize events and coordinate meetings

5.      Assist with administrative and organizational needs of the office

 

PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS DESCRIPTION

1. Excellent administrative, communication/phone and computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) required

2. Strong writing and organizational skills required

3. Ability to work cooperatively with diverse staff and communities, as well as interact with government staff are a must

4. Knowledge of New York City government and community affairs experience a plus

 

INDICATE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school

 

WHAT DEGREE OF INTERACTIONS DOES THE INTERN HAVE WITH EMPLOYEES, CUSTOMERS AND / OR CLIENTS

Interns assist with case work, create power point presentations, one pagers on NYCHA projects, draft briefing documents

NOTE: INTERNSHIPS CAN ONLY BE 15-20 HRS PER WEEK (MAXIMUM OF 20 HRS) DURING ACADEMIC YEAR. FULL TIME IN SUMMER.
