Fall 2018 Meeting Summary

CLPHA members and affordable housing professionals from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. last week for multiple engaging and informative housing conferences.

On Thursday, October 18, and Friday, October 19, CLPHA held its Fall Membership Meeting, where CLPHA members gathered to hear from speakers including urbanism expert Bruce Katz and Senior Advisor to the Secretary of HUD John Bravacos, and to learn from panels on topics such as the VASH program, trauma-informed care, and building partnerships with housing finance agencies. You can view summaries of each speaker or panel below.
Concurrent with the CLPHA fall meeting, IT leaders from member PHAs joined us for the inaugural CLPHA CIO Convening to discuss important issues in information technology, form peer-to-peer learning relationships, and hear from cybersecurity expert Matthew Drake of the FBI’s Criminal and National Cyber Security & Cyber Task Force.
Prior to the Fall Meeting and CIO Convening, CLPHA, Mobility Works, and the Poverty & Race Research Action Council (PRRAC) co-sponsored the 7th National Conference on Housing Mobility, a two-day convening intended to share housing mobility best practices among peers and to broaden and strengthen the community of practice in this trending field.
CLPHA would like to thank our members for joining us for a full week of collaboration, networking, and idea-sharing. We would also like to thank our meeting sponsors CVR Associates, Inc., Nan McKay & Associates, Du & Associates, the NHP Foundation, and TCAM for supporting our fall membership meeting; King County Housing Authority Chief Information Officer Gary Leaf for organizing the CIO Convening; and PRRAC and Mobility Works for their partnership in the mobility conference.
